PERSPECTIVES ON LIFE

Thomas Hardy by Michael Millgate
Picture of ‘The Hardy Cottage’ – “Higher Bockhampton”

How often does your mind lift to higher things? Are you mired in the detail of your day to day life? With distance comes clarity and perspective. Take the time out to be in nature or walk or read a book; something away from your normal life. At the top of the mountain is the vista of your life to look over, but you need to climb away from the earth to view it in perspective. Once you cross to the Other Side the whole will easily be seen, but in your life on earth it is more difficult.

Try to avoid impulsive behaviour over a difficult problem. Put the problem away for a while and go and do something else and when you return it is likely that you will have a new view of it.

Taking time to retreat a little is never wasted. Time in meditation is never wasted. A little time spent on yourself regaining your balance is absolutely never wasted. For some of you this will be easier to arrange than others. Do what you can when you can. Time spent regularly, but for a short while will bring more benefit than a long retreat now and again.

Bless you all in your busy lives. Remember, you are human ‘be’ings not human ‘do’ings. Try it once in a while!

Blessings.
